MORE LITERARY FIGURES CONFIRM THEIR PRESENCA AT THE THIRD EDITION OF EXPOLIBRO
The Colombian Book Chamber and the Book Fair signed an agreement
Expolibro was present in the month of April at the International Book Fair in Bogota with a stand and a delegation of organizers who represent Ecuador. Here, they solidified relations with all those people who are associated with arts and literary arts.
Part of this agreement was the determination that both fairs would cooperate with each other, through stands and agreements that encourage the flow of visitors and presenters from both countries. Likewise, the Colombian Book Chamber, the organizer of this neighboring country’s book fair, will be at Expolibro this year. Their 21 years of experience has resulted in a fair that the international guild considers to be in one of the best in the world and the Andean region.
Progress with the Book Law
With support of CERLALC-UNESCO, a team that is part of the EXPOLIBRO Organizing Committee is currently working on a rough draft of a law that has been in its preliminary stage for two years. The law is adjusted to Ecuador’s reality and needs, and if passed, will become Ecuador’s new BOOK LAW. Soon, it will be presented to the National Assembly so that they can study, debate and approve it.
Mexico will be at the Fair
In recently held conversations, Guayaquil’s Mexican Consul, Rodolfo Quilantán, confirmed the presence of this sister Republic with a stand that will present Mexican literary material, culture and customs. Invitations to Mexican authors have also been made through the diplomatic delegation to Carlos Fuentes, Heraclio Zepeda, Carlos Monsivaís Aceves and Roberto Gómez Bolaños (Chespirito). The fair awaits their reply.
International Writers
Following confirmation from authors Marcelo Figueras and Andrés Neuman Galán from Argentina, Mario Bellatín (Mexican-Peruvian) and Mario Campaña, Ecuadorian who resides in Madrid and who has great influence in the literary world, the fair awaits a response from the invitations that were extended to Mario Vargas Llosa, Daniel Samper Pizano and Rosa Montero, amongst other popular writers.
