EXPOLIBRO 2007 RECEIVED MORE THAN 260,000 VISITORS DURING THE 10 DAYS OF THE FAIR
The International Book Fair in Ecuador, which took place from July 6 to 15, wishes to make it known to the public that, now that the preliminary tally is over, the number of visitors has exceeded all possible expectations for a cultural event of this type in the country. In fact, it broke the Expolibro 2006 record of 141,287 visitors. This year, the fair received more than 260,000 visitors. Actually, on Sunday afternoon it was impossible to control the entrance of visitors, and the access doors were forced to be opened.
This multiplying effect happened because of a diverse and rich cultural program in which the participation of the most important national entities who work in the literary and artistic fields were the highlights. Another important factor was the endorsement of CERLAC-UNESCO, an important institution on the international level.
Our organization extends thanks to the national press for the massive free of cost diffusion that this event received. In this way, thousands of people had the opportunity to get closer to literature, art and constructivist thinking.
The program was an organized schedule of events that were carried out during the fair. In its second edition, the program, which had just a slight margin of error, was supervised by a group of 16 people and more than 150 students who belong to the University of Guayaquil – FACSO and the Department of Tourism and Hotel Services of the Catholic University. We extend our gratitude to all of these people for their support.
Important information has been established in terms of levels of reading, purchasing books and visitor interest for content and setup of each stand.
