  They have a lot of experience in helping publishing houses and book sellers go through maritime and air customs offices.  Below, you can find basic information for doing the paperwork

1.- Consignation of the cargo if there isn’t a correspondent: INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR IN ECUADOR -HoritzoGrup S.A. Gral. Elizalde No.119, Ed. Luz María Of. 501 - GUAYAQUIL.

2.- Detailed Process and Documentation for Books valued LESS THAN US. $4,000
- ORIGINAL COMMERCIAL RECIEPT
- BOOK CHAMBER CERTIFICATE (local).
- LOCAL INSURANCE POLICY The merchandise can disembark without any permission or additional document.

3.- Detailed Process and Documentation of imported Books MORE THAN US $4,000
- A Request Note is created.
- A DUI (Unique Importation Document) is created.  A Local Bank checks these two documents to make sure that they are good.  
- An origin inspection order is solicited for any verifier in the country.  (S.G.S., COTECNA, VERITAS, ITS).
- ORIGINAL COMMERCIAL RECIEPT
- BOOK CHAMBER CERTIFICATE (local).
- LOCAL INSURANCE POLICY Once these documents have been obtained, the inspection order number has to be sent, so that this can take place in the place of origin.  Once these steps have been taken, the merchandise can disembark.  

Important Notes:
a)- The Commercial Receipt has to include detail about absolutely everything that is to be submitted through customs, so as to avoid any problems during the PHYSICAL APPRAISAL process.
b)- Books are exempt of taxes and fees. 
c)- Catalogues and promotional material should be declared as such, indicating without commercial value, but specifying statistical value.  There is a possibility that you have to pay taxes, depending on the type, volume, and quantity.
